The leadership of Good Leadership Promotion Network has mourned the passing away of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru in a plane crash.
In a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group Olaniyi Odina addressed to wife of the deceased senior officer. GOLPRONET called for a full scale investigation and auditing of all military hardware in the country. Below is the text of the letter, with the title We share in Your Grief.
It is with great shock and disbelief that we received the news of the sudden and shocking death of your husband, the Chief of Army Staff.
Our Management, Board of Trustees, and Body of Patrons mourn with the entire Attahiru family, the Nigerian military, the good people of Kaduna State, and Kaduna North LGA, for this loss of epic proportion.
Following this sad occurrence, We call for a full-scale investigation to prevent further avoidable mishaps and total auditing of all military hardware in the country. Those that are old and worn out should be retired and put into disuse.
As a group principally interested in good leadership, we have followed the activities of Late Lt. Gen. Attahiru and his team and we were confident that his leadership credentials were already positioning the army for greatness and the end of violent crimes and threat to our territorial integrity was on the horizon.
We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately announce the appointment of a replacement that is in the mold and cast of Lt. Gen. Attahiru, the enemies of our nation are in their dying phases and kicking their last, we must not allow for a vacuum that will help them regain space, strength, and stamina.
May the good soul of all gentlemen officers departed find rest. Amen
